Indian tacos of homemade fry bread topped with chili, cheese, lettuce, and tomato are a favourite at Aboriginal Pow Wows all summer long. Indian Tacos is a Christmas Dinner tradition at our home. If I didn't fix them each year, I'm sure I'd have a rebellion on my hands. The original recipe was given to me by a Native American Indian in Colorado whose husband was a chief on their tribe's ranch.

  2. Take 2 lbs ground beef
  3. Take 1 lb dry pintos
  4. Make ready 2 packs taco seasoning
  5. Make ready Water
  6. Take 1 large onion cut up
  7. Prepare 1 can green chiles
  8. Make ready 1 Tblsp chile powder
  9. Prepare 1 Tblsp cumin
  10. Take 1 Tblsp oregano
  11. Prepare 1 tsp garlic salt
  12. Make ready 1 tsp black pepper
  13. Make ready 2 bay leaves
  14. Prepare 1 tsp white sugar
  15. Prepare Other Toppings
  16. Prepare Lettuce chopped
  17. Take Tomato chopped
  18. Prepare Black olives sliced
  19. Make ready Colby Jack cheese grated
  20. Get Salsa
  21. Prepare Sour cream

So does all of my family, which is amazing because there is always somebody who doesn't like what I have cooked. Not the case with these tacos. Make sure and be really careful when cooking the fry bread. I always eat it because it is sooooo goooood.

Instructions to make Indian Tacos:
  1. Sort thru and soak the dry pintos in water overnight
  2. Brown the ground beef with the onion on medium heat and add the taco seasoning with the water and cook together for about 10 to 15 minutes
  3. Rinse and drain the soaked pintos then add them to the beef mixture with just a little water you want it to cook down eventually
  4. Add the Chile powder, cumin, oregano, garlic salt, bay leaves, can of chile's and sugar. Cook it on low for about 2 hours stirring once in a while it will be done when the beans are soft
  5. Chop, slice, grate and gather your toppings
  6. Spread the beef and bean mixture on top of your fry bread Add the other toppings and ENJOY! ❤️❤️😋❤️❤️

Make sure and be really careful when cooking the fry bread. I always eat it because it is sooooo goooood. Indian tacos AKA Navajo tacos are like tacos but made with Indian frybread (AKA Navajo frybread) in place of the tortilla. Drizzle on honey, sprinkle on cinnamon sugar, or top them with ground beef, lettuce, and tomatoes to make Indian Tacos. Navajo Tacos (Indian Fry Bread) Deliciously crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, Navajo Tacos made with Indian Fry Bread are topped with a meaty mixture of taco seasoned ground beef and beans, then all the fixings like sour cream, shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, and tomatoes!
