The ingredients needed to make Meringue Hearts:
  1. Take 4 tsp meringue powder
  2. Prepare 4 tbsp water
  3. Take 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  4. Get 1/2 cup sugar
  5. Get Red food coloring
Instructions to make Meringue Hearts:
  1. Preheat oven to 200 F
  2. In a medium bowl, add meringue powder, water, and vanilla. Use an electric beater on medium speed to beat the mixture until soft peaks form
  3. On high speed, continue beating the mixture as you add sugar one spoonful at a time
  4. Beat the mixture until stiff peaks form
  5. Spoon 1/4 cup of the mixture into a small bowl and lightly fold in a few drops of food coloring. Remember that a little goes a long ways and that you don't want to mix the air out of your meringue
  6. Lightly fold the colored meringue back in with the rest until red swirls form. Fill a pastry bag with the meringue and pipe 2 inch hearts onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Let cool in the oven for 6-8 hours. Store in an air tight container
